Final Exam I would respond to the principal by stating how the children in the classroom today are surrounded by technology everywhere they go. Many of these same students have mp3 players, cell phones, and other portable devices that make every aspect of their life easier. With that in mind, because these same children use technology in every other aspect of their life than it should only be natural for these students to use it for their education. It becomes very domain and boring to listen to a teacher talk for 75 minutes on one subject or to do worksheets for hours on end. To break up this monotony, one should use technology and other engaging materials to make the lesson better. Also I feel if the resources are there they should be used. This is a perfect atmosphere for learning and as a teacher I would be more than happy to take advantage of such a situation. Many schools do not have such advances yet which can make for teaching these same digital age students difficult. Students learn differently. Some students are visual, auditory or kinetics learners. Other students have learning disabilities and need special accommodations. Technology addresses the needs of all learners and make sure they learn the lesson that is being presented. Class sizes sometimes are rather large and technology allows the needs of a greater population to be addressed and not waste precious class time. I feel that my views have changed since taking this course. I feel I am more informed about issues in the classroom and how technology can affect them. Technology is very important and it makes teaching and learning fun.
